In Remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej 1927 – 2016

Rolly Tasker Sails (Thailand) Co. Ltd. expresses its deepest sympathy to the Royal Family and People of Thailand on the loss of the beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The loss of King Bhumibol Adulyadej reminds us on the passing of Rolly Tasker ”Papa” in 2012 who both had a strong passion for sports and sailing. Both even competed together in sailing races.

Rolly Tasker Sails – Your Sailmaker since 1949

Rolly Tasker Sails Spinnakers

We are proud to share following great customer feedback:

”I have ”137” Rolly Tasker Symmetrical Spinnaker from 1972 – just crossed Atlantic on brand new FP Helia 44 Cat – a 44 YEAR OLD SPINNAKER driving the latest Catamaran 17 days crossing. A TRUE QUALITY STATEMENT ON ROLLY TASKER SAILS!!! Needed couple repairs – local Sail Loft says great condition, they don’t make them like this anymore”
Gerrit S., United Kingdom

44-years-old-spinnaker

We are in particular proud on this feedback as there are not many sailmakers around over decades who are able to generate such great long-term quality statements.

Regarding the last sentence we want to highlight that the Spinnaker shape and panel layout has been developed over the time to more modern styles such as FullRadial constructions with all seams in load direction, but we stick to our long-term proven construction standards which are still outstanding.

Below pictures demonstrate the developments regarding shape of an Symmetrical Spinnaker flewn on Rolly Tasker’s Siska in the 80ths, and next to it an 3D design image reflecting our today’s cutting edge design developments in close cooperation with Smart Azure, leading software producer for saildesign softwares.

Pls. contact us if you require a competitive quotation for an Asymmetrical or Symmetrical Spinnaker, whether standard sized or custom designed, to our high level of construction.

RTS Performance Tape Carbon Sails

Rolly Tasker Sails launches new Performance Tape Carbon Range

We are glad to introduce Performance Tape Carbon Sails as our new product range for performance orientated cruisers, club racers or day racers, who are looking for a light and low stretching sail construction.

RTS Performance Tape Carbon Sails2The construction is based on a grey color 4.8 oz film-taffeta polyester laminate made by Dimension Polyant US that is crosscut sewn and following carbon tapes are laid out in load directions. You might have seen this type of construction from other international known sailmakers. We have developed in cooperation with our design software producer SMART Azure exclusively for Rolly Tasker Sails an optimized design layout by using their SA-Evolution technology. With SA-Evolution we have evaluated the flying sail-shape and stress intensity and directions for the specific tape layouts, for different sails in given sailing conditions. Based on the results, we have evaluated modifications to the tape layout to maximize the performance. The patches for Performance Tape Carbon Sails are shaped in load directions. You can order as option a double taffeta stripe at the leech for mainsails, and for headsails at leech and foot. This protects the carbon tapes if flapping to the backstay, mast or sea rail and improves the durability of the construction.

The campaign is limited to 39’ foot boats and / or max 45 m2 sail area at first step. We consider to expand the product range at later step.

We are convinced our high quality design and construction with Dimension Polyant as supplier for base laminates and tapes, and competitive pricing will be a great addition to the Portfolio of Rolly Tasker Sails.

Code Zero

Hot Campaign for Cruising Code Zeros and Heavy Spinnaker

The summer is getting close in Europe & US and Rolly Tasker Sails is glad to launch in time a campaign for Cruising Code Zeros and Heavy / Storm Spinnakers made out of Bainbridge Spinnaker cloth which comes in white color and 110 gram (2.5 oz) to 150 gram (3.5 oz) per square meter.

The developments of Code Zeros started in the 90th for racing boats, and are on those days an important part of the racing wardrobe. Code Zeros fill in particular for newer generation boats with non overlapping headsails the gab between genoas and spinnakers and are an excellent engine for cruising boats in lower wind conditions for around 50 to 100% wind angle, depending on the wind strength. While a Racing Code Zero is measured as a spinnaker with a mid-girth of more than 75% of the foot we build Cruising Code Zeros for better all-round conditions and easier handling with a mid girth of around 55% and an LP of 165% ore more. The heavy spinnaker cloth is an ideal application for Cruising Code Zeros because of good handling and highly competitive pricing.

Code Zeros can be equipped with an anti-twist rope in luff to be used with a furling system, or Dyneema rope to be handled as a spinnaker without furling system. For more performance orientated club racers we can produce the Code Zero out of a racing laminate that is less stretching, but both more sensitive in handling and price.

If you are interested into substantial better performance and more fun in light winds feel free to ask for an enquiry.

Annabel Shove

Annabel Shove proudly takes on the UK & Ireland Rolly Tasker Sails dealership

I am delighted to announce that from early spring this year I took over the UK & Ireland Rolly Tasker dealership from my predecessor John Yates. John has taken to the high seas to enjoy some relaxing times on his yacht – I wish him fair winds. I have spent three enjoyable years with John introducing Rolly Tasker to the UK market and developed our presence nationwide at various boat shows. Our hard work and efforts have been very rewarding and enjoyable. We have proudly sponsored the Warsash Spring Series, here on our doorstep, for the last 3 years which has proven and great success and brought us a huge amount of exposure. Over this last year we now see more and more British sailors buying new Rolly Tasker sails for their yachts. I take great pleasure hearing from our clients on how pleased they are with their new sails and the transformation they have made to their sailing experience.

Going forward I really look forward to building Rolly Tasker brand further in the UK and of course making more customers aware of the benefits a Rolly Tasker sail can bring.

About Annabel:
For me sailing has always been in the blood from a young age. I was put in the family Mirror dinghy at the age of 5 and my love for sailing grew from there, with my Father being my role model. I still recount many funny (and not so funny!) tales of frantic family holidays on board our Leisure 24, with 5 of us. Every holiday we would explore the coastline of south west England and cross the English Channel in some challenging conditions. On leaving School, and after a stint working in London, I joined Sunsail where l qualified as a flotilla skippers which took me to both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Very quickly I gained many sea miles and notable experiences. There followed 10 years as a New Boat Sales Person with Ancasta Intl Boat Sales in Hamble (now my home village) where I gained a huge amount of knowledge in boats in general, but particularly with the popular Beneteau brand. Having taught sailing, made friends with sailors and enjoyed 10 years of selling yachts to fellow cruisers and racers, I am confident that my experiences and contacts will help me make Rolly Tasker Sails UK and real success.

When not selling sails, Annabel enjoys life in Hamble with her two young boys and her husband who works as a yacht broker. The family love to go sailing on their own yacht ”Rampion” a 1972 Van de Stadt Pioneer 10.

Kind Regards,
Annabel

Rolly Tasker Sails, Your sailmaker since 1949

The right Sailcloth is one important key to produce quality sails!

Sailors are unique individuals, whose love of the sport leads them to many places over the course of a long time of boat ownership. One sailor may choose to race on Sundays, and another may choose to sail around the world. These different types of sailors choose different types of boats, and sailmakers much choose different types of sailcloth to meet the unique needs of each one. It is just as important to choose between the right range of sailcloth for the cruiser as it is for the most advanced racer.

While we keep concentrating on production of high-grade sail constructions we purchase our sailcloth from the leading sailcloth suppliers. Challenge Sailcloth specializes on woven dacron, and has a broad range of fabrics that are great for the cruising sailor. A broad range of unique fibers, weights and woven constructions are produced each year to meet the diverse needs of those sailing in high winds on weekends, to those sailing between the islands of the Caribbean. Weaves are optimized for the square sail of a tall ship and high load of a sloop alike. A sailor may choose Warp-Drive for a tri-radial sail, or High Mass Fiber Weaves for a long distance crosscut. The possibilities for a sailor are limitless, and the cloth must meet the Challenge.

Sailcloth-Fiber-Warps

Rolly Tasker Sails stocks a wide range of woven Challenge sailcloth and choose the right cloth construction for your requirements. Combined with our cutting edge 3D saildesign, high-grade sail construction standards and excellent handcraft we are able to supply quality sails to our individual clients around the globe.
