How It Is Made
Basically, these cloths are woven in a special technical construction balancing fibre, denier, count and crimp to create a line of high-performance fabrics for upwind sails in radial design. These cloths are very tightly woven and have a special binding of the high tenacity yarn that are also coated with a solvent-based PU. As mentioned before, this is the cloth of choice for performance radial-cut sails that are extremely durable and suffer no loss of shape over time even in harsh offshore conditions and frequent reefing. Being woven cloths, both these fabrics are easy to handle when reefing, folding or stowing away. A woven cloth has the best resistance to impact damage and general wear and tear and will stand up best to the tough conditions encountered while ocean cruising. This is especially true for these specially designed, top-range fabrics.
Advantages in General and Sustainability
Both Fibercon Pro Warp Tech and Fibercon Pro Hybrid guarantee maximum cloth stability to assure perfect profiles and long-term shape-holding. The diagonal strength of the fabric is especially important for cruising, where sails are often reefed for longer periods of time. When the sail is deeply reefed the radial cut will be effectively reduced and the loads will be mainly on the strengthening points at the luff and leech of the sail. The Warp Tech finish is firm for maximum cloth stability. Compared to woven Dacron cloth, Warp Tech has excellent UV-resistance due to high tenacity yarns, of solid size for both warp and fill, that degrade much slower than thinner yarns. Impregnated and stabilised with a special coating, this cloth is extremely durable, with a high diagonal stability of the fabric. In other words: The best that money can buy.
Fibercon Pro Hybrid is carefully designed with performance cruising yachts and long-distance voyaging in mind. This material combines tremendous strength and durability in a woven fabric suited to today’s high-tech radial sails. Here, the already strong Polyester yarns of Warp Tech are replaced by Dyneema yarns that have four times the breaking load. Also, the coating is specially formulated for Dyneema.

It may not be the same simple arrival as before at Chalong Bay’s One Stop Shop at the pier, but it is a very well organised welcome, taking into account the current restrictions the world is facing. Thailand is now allowing yachts to arrive, report, anchor at a designated location in a safe location, and for the crew to undertake a compulsory 14-day quarantine on board their vessel. You are required to engage one of three appointed agents to process your arrival and the medical testing and any other needs you may have.

By this time, Jon Sanders has already sailed around 19,000 nautical miles after departing from Fremantle, Western Australia, in November 2019 in his 34-foot Sparkman & Stephens designed yacht “Perie Banou” – the very one in which he has already circumnavigated the globe a few times and also, as the first solo yachtsman ever, sailed around Antarctica. During this voyage, in 1981-82, he passed south of the three great capes: Horn, Good Hope and Leeuwin, before rounding Cape Horn a second time. He then turned north to Plymouth, UK, before returning south and around Good Hope once more to reach Fremantle.

His hobby as a young boy was building model yachts and aeroplanes. By the time he was 6, with the help of his father, he built his first siling canoe and then at 10, his first sailing dinghy. - [Full Square Head Mainsail](https://www.rollytasker.com/en/our-sails/multihull-sails/full-square-head-mainsail/): The full square head mainsail takes the concept of the large or max-roach mainsail to its logical conclusion. This type of sail is common on most Grand Prix racing yachts, offshore or inshore, where only performance counts. This type of sail delivers flexible power, increasing sail area and power in the top third of the mainsail but feathering away to leeward when a gust hits, instantly de-powering the main. The advanced sail design takes full advantage of the long traveler on the wide catamaran base.
