Project Description

Headquartered in Sydney, Rolly Tasker Sails Australia is owned by Sam and Greg Newton and has been Australia’s leading Rolly Tasker dealer since 2001. With over 17 years experience in specifying and selling Rolly Tasker sails, we have an intimate knowledge of the extensive range of products available. This is well supported by our experience in sailing yachts and skiffs at both a local and international level, thus ensuring that we understand the needs of our clients and can deliver the professional advice and support they demand for their sailing requirements right across Australia.

At Rolly Tasker Sails Australia, all of our staff are experienced sailors with a range of sail making and rigging skills, thus ensuring that our clients are in truly professional hands. Sam, our local design guru, has an outstanding sailing resume including two Americas Cup campaigns, line honours and handicap wins in the famous Sydney to Hobart race, the Volvo Round World Ocean Race, the Farr 40 Worlds, Super Foilers plus over 10 Australian and World sailing titles in fleet and match racing including six 18ft Skiff JJ Giltinan “World Titles”. Greg, the guy with the phone, pen and measuring tape, has owned numerous yachts and been highly successful in harbour and offshore racing including many podium finishes up and down the Australian coast and as far afield as Lord Howe Island and the Solomon Islands, naturally with a wardrobe of Rolly Tasker sails.

From our prime waterfront location and new factory sail and rigging warehouse in Sydney, Rolly Tasker Sails Australia provides an extensive range of services to support our customers across the breadth of Australia, this ensuring a seamless yachting experience. We have a particularly strong presence along the east coast of Australia, including NSW, Victoria and all along the Queensland coast through to the Whitsundays, where there is a significant presence of cruising and racing catamarans. As our clients aren’t always confident in specifying their sail requirements and undertaking accurate measurements, we regularly travel to them, not simply operating off the back of a boat or through a faceless website.

At every stage Rolly Tasker Sails Australia consults with its clients to ensure that we specify and deliver to them the very best and most cost-effective sail solution. Wherever possible, we hand measure our clients’ boats, not relying on measurement sheets or factory specifications as so much is often unknown such as mast bend, tack set back, backstay location, dodger height and so on. Once we agree our client’s sail requirements and detailed specifications, we then pass this information onto our state of the art sailloft in Phuket, Thailand where their sails are designed and constructed. Each Rolly Tasker sail is designed by an experienced design team using cutting edge 3D-modelling sail design software before the panels are accurately plotted onto high grade sailcloth from the world’s leading cloth manufacturers such as Bainbridge, Challenge, Dimension-Polyant and Contender. Finally, the sail is assembled and finished following our precise manufacturing and quality management system processes. While the majority of our clients’ requirements continue to be mainsails, headsails and spinnakers for both cruising and racing application, increasingly they are demanding more refined solutions to their sail wardrobe, with sustained growth in the demand for Code 0s, Code 1s, Screechers and other fast reaching sails. Naturally when the sailing season is upon us, the demand for storm and trysails increases with a strong shift to the safety of full Dayglo Orange.

In addition to being Australia’s leading Rolly Tasker sails distributor, we provide a wide range of rigging and yacht management services to ensure a total, one stop client solution.
