Our Optimist class sails, for example, are tried and tested not just by anyone, but by our own kids who keenly race out on the water. Being our own kids, we get direct and honest feedback from these little sailors.
And the true reason for making Optimist class sails? Rolly Tasker Sails CEO Sven answers with a smile: “Of course, I do not want to see my own kids sailing with any other brand of sails but our own!” And, naturally, neither can he, in the Finn Dinghy…
This is truly passionate sailmaking.
With our one-design sails, we go back to our roots. Our founder Rolly Tasker was an outstanding yachtsman who began his incredibly successful international sailing career in one-design dinghy classes. At the 1965 Olympics in Melbourne, he and his crew, Malcolm Scott, won the Silver medal in their 12 m2 Sharpie. The first Olympic sailing medal ever for Australia. In 1958, Rolly Tasker became World Champion in the Flying Dutchman class, after which he moved on to big boat, offshore and ocean racing.
As a sailmaker, Rolly Tasker translated his experience gained through successful racing in both dinghies and offshore yachts directly into the design and production of innovative and performing sails, reliably delivering winning potential time and time again. Today, we at Rolly Tasker Sails are proud to follow in this tradition!
