Everything fits perfectly

Yesterday we went for a shake down sail with the new sails and they look great, we had perfect conditions for testing the staysail with a couple of 20 knot gusts. The only sail we did not try out was the new spinnaker as we decided to wait for lighter winds to try that for the first time. Everything fits perfectly, the sail shapes look fantastic. The sails are excellent, the mainsail particularly is a work of art and has a beautiful shape, so much better than the old one! Please can you pass on our heartfelt thanks to your team at the loft, they have made us some wonderful sails. Thank you very much. See us at YouTube

With this new main I can reef in about five minutes

Having this new sail is totally changing the way that I sail. Reefing the old main was so annoying because the main was all dicey and blown out. So, I would fiddle around with headsails more but I only have three headsails so often I would be either underpowered or overpowered. Now I choose the headsail that most matches the conditions and then use reefing and un-reefing the main as a way to keep my boat balanced. And with this new main I can reef in about five minutes which is just a third of the time of changing a headsail… on this ocean passage I am doing a couple of reef changes of the mainsail every day and every time I do it I am just so grateful. https://www.youtube.com/@WindHippieSailing

Boat was flying along with her new sails

Great price – super value – quality sails – A very happy customer :-) Test sailed today in circa 20kts to 28kts of wind in Southampton water. On a reach we achieved 9.3 to 9.5 kts max SOG with tide and 7 to 7.3 kts SOG against – Boat was flying along with her new sails. It was WINDY :-) Seriously pleased – Thanks Annabel – Great service and all so simple.

Are You Considering Buying a New Mainsail?

The mainsail is your main power source, and it should always be in great shape – literally, to get the best out of your boat. It should also be reliable and dependable.

Types of Mainsails

Usually, we are talking about Bermudian-rigged mainsails which is what the vast majority of yachts around the globe use. We can also make traditional sails for gaffers or luggers and, very seldom, other types of rig like junk rig or similar.

Key features to consider when ordering your new mainsail

  • Type of fabric depending on size and intended use
  • Type of design, cross cut or triradial
  • In-mast or in-boom furling
  • Part or fully battened
  • Loose foot or fixed
  • How many reefs

You know you need a new mainsail when

  • You sail is so baggy it delivers more heel than drive
  • Your sail looks awful due to creases and wrinkles
  • The leech of your sail is fluttering and this cannot be stopped
  • The fabric is so worn out by UV and chafe that it tears

Upgrade your sailing

A sail has only a certain life-span after which it becomes unsafe and ineffective to use. As your mainsail is the main source of power and drive for your boat, it should always be in top condition. Investing in a new mainsail may feel like a big financial commitment, but compared to the overall value of your boat, it is actually not that much. But it will make all the difference to the enjoyment and satisfaction that you can gain from your sailing.

Benefits of upgrading

A new mainsail will solve all the problems mentioned above, and more. You have the chance to upgrade, from Dacron to Cruising Laminate or from cross-cut to triradial, depending on what you plan in your sailing. You can choose a fully battened sail in combination with a stack-pack bag on the boom or lazy jacks.

But above all else, you will be proud and happy when your boat slips through the water at optimum speed with minimum heel, driven by a beautiful new sail that also simply looks great!
